“The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths it has its pearls too” - Vincent Van Gogh

Hi! I'm Gemma, it's so good to see you here!

I always think that the best moments in our lives are the ones spent with the sand between our toes, filling our lungs with sea air, and sitting on the beach in the arms of the people we love....The moments where we find the extraordinary within the ordinary and really connect with the world around us...

And I design jewellery with all that in mind!

My approach to jewellery design is intuitive, organic and led by the heart. I don't take influence from mainstream fashion trends and instead draw my inspiration from the sea, moods, emotions and the small moments in our lives that take our breath away.

I've been a maker and an artist for as long as I can remember, and my journey has seen me make all manner of crazy things. Gemma aged 3 grew up in Wales and made pom poms at the dining table with Granny (probably not so crazy), Gemma aged 23 moved to London and made stunt weapons for a Brad Pitt film (A little bit crazy). I have a First Class Honours degree in Model Making from the University of Hertfordshire and my work (across many disciplines) has been exhibited all over the world, from Dubai, to Hong Kong, to the Monaco Yacht Show. I've worked as an artist, designer and maker and on more creative projects than I can count!

So how did I become a jeweller?

A few years into my career as a scale model maker, I found myself burned out, ill and totally fed up.

It was a slow and unexpected descent into feeling totally misaligned. I loved making things, but I now knew that I wanted to do something more meaningful and personal than the work I was doing as a model maker. I wanted to connect with people and help them to tell their stories.

I realized that the job I thought I'd love, just didn't sit right with my values at all. I wanted to really be able to make well-being and purposeful living a priority in my life rather than living in a state of chronic stress, fatigue and illness (which is exactly where I was at the time). I hated the environmental impact of the model making
industry and my commute (I'd moved to Suffolk to be with my partner) to London was draining. With my physical and mental health on the line, I decided it was time for a change. I found the courage to walk out of my 'career' job, and I looked for ways to find 'me' again.

I went for walks and immersed myself in nature. My Husband and I spent every weekend out on adventures exploring new places, seeing new things, and walking by the sea. I spent hours in my free time just enjoying the simple pleasures in life; the sound of the wind in the trees, and the smell of a new book...Those moments in life that really fill us with joy.

After a life-long obsession with jewellery, I set about learning metalsmithing techniques, bought some tools, and began researching, designing and making whenever I could find time. I channelled all of my creative energy into this new venture and felt a spark ignite within me instantly, I was excited again! I was full of passion to get creating and grow my skills!

And so Gemma Tremayne Jewellery was born!

If my experience of chronic stress, burnout and depression has taught me anything, it's that we all deserve to live a life full of intention, purpose and passion. A life where we are kind to our beautiful planet. A life lived with connection to the people and things that matter to us most. A life full of joy, calm and moments
that sweep us off our feet.

So that is my exact approach to jewellery design. I believe jewellery should feel like a small piece of us, a moment of calm, something that brings us back to ourselves when we feel lost at sea.

My unique, earthy designs draw their inspiration from the ocean, which has been a life-long creative fascination of mine. My pieces are both inspired by our planet and kind to it too. I use 100% recycled metal wherever possible, I plant one tree with every order on my website, and all of my packaging is recyclable and FSC approved.

My previous creative career as Model Maker has not only aided my ability to make finely crafted jewellery, but also provided me with an interdisciplinary and illustrative technique that is totally unique!

Each of my pieces has a story to tell. My favourite part is that that story continues with you!

My hope is that my designs help to you to feel connected, calm, and remind you of everything that you love most in life.

They are a small piece of sanctuary in what can sometimes be a chaotic world, and a reminder of those special moments spent with special people. A reminder of who you are and why you are here. A reminder to always follow your north star.

I believe that your jewellery should be part of something
bigger....Stories to be told, memories to relive and time spent doing what you love with the people you love most.

Every day that you wear Gemma Tremayne Jewellery, I hope you're reminded of
those moments. I hope you're taken back to the sunset watched from the top of the cliffs overlooking the sea. Or to gazing up at the
stars on a midsummers night with your favourite people....And I hope
my designs help you to make those magical moments last!

Why are we drawn to the Ocean?
Why are we drawn to the Ocean?

Life has so many ups and downs, just like waves in the ocean. Sometimes it's hard to see over some of the bigger waves, but being by the sea and seeing it's magnitude can make us realise how lucky we are to even be here at all.
